The Directors’ Union, under the leadership of Bharathiraja, had announced a fast to protest against Kerala’s stand in the Mullai Periyar Dam issue on January 8th, 2011 at Veerapandi in Theni District. The veteran director had appealed to all the film unions in Kollywood to join this fast to show their solidarity. ...................
But now, this fast stands cancelled following news that the Committee headed by Justice Anand has rejected the Kerala government’s demands and claims. The committee had also instructed that the water level should not be reduced to 120 ft and the government should maintain the 136 ft level as it has been doing since 1979.
