Duggar Children Struggling To Understand The Loss Of Unborn Sister

Michelle Duggar miscarried her 20th child, Jubilee Shalom, this week.
In the aftermath of the loss, the grieving mother says she is working to help her 19 children cope with the tragedy – especially 7-year-old Jackson, who has been asking about the sudden absence of his baby sister.
“I told him there is going to be a day when we are going to be together again,” Michelle said, according to People. “As the days go on, I know we will have time to talk through all this. I have been trying to hold my composure and do what I needed to do, and then be able to grieve.”
The 45-year-old mom also shared that it’s not just her youngest children who are taking the news the hardest.

Michelle’s 20-year-old daughter, Jill – who is studying to become a midwife and had been charting Jubilee’s vitals – has been especially hard hit by the loss.
”[Jill] was crying and weeping last night,” Michelle revealed at a memorial service for the baby in Arkansas on Wednesday. “I hugged her and said, ‘I am holding on, and I am going to let the tears go. We can pray, cry and grieve together in the weeks and days we walk through this.’”
While the “19 Kids and Counting” matriarch has been comforting her children, her brood – along with husband Jim Bob — has also been looking after their mom during this tragic time.
“My older girls have been precious to make Momma take care of Momma right now, and Jim Bob has been busy taking care of everything,” she said.

Despite the understandably somber mood around the Duggar household, Michelle said the family will not postpone the group’s five December birthday celebrations (Josie turned 2 on Dec. 10, Jordyn turned 3 on Dec. 18, Jinger turns 18 on Dec. 21, and the twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah turn 13 on Dec. 30).
“Our calendar is cleared off, and we are going to take time to talk and pray and cry,” she said. “This is going to be a time for our family to just be together.”
